Huckins LM, Chatzinakos C, Breen MS, Hartmann J, โ€ฆ, Sklar P, Ressler KJ, Stahl EA, Daskalakis NP# (2020). Analysis of Genetically Regulated Gene Expression Identifies a Prefrontal PTSD Gene, SNRNP35, Specific to Military Cohorts. Cell Reports 31(9): 107716|10.1016/j.celrep.2020.107716

Findings from an Int’l PGC-๐—ฃ๐—ง๐—ฆ๐—— study led by our ๐‘ต๐‘ฎ.๐‘ป๐‘ฉ๐‘ณ lab investigating gene expression underpinnings of PTSD. Findings were validated (i.e., correlation btw predicted and observed) using blood collected before and after combat-related #trauma (๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜† ๐—ฆ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐˜†), where we additionally observed deployment stress effects on the identified genes. In cell culture, we validated the function of SNRNP35 on ๐—จ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฎ ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด, and in mouse brains, we validated the effects of stress hormones (glucocorticoids) on this gene.
